Ruïz - Contemporary & Environmental Artist

Born in Colombia in 1978, Claudia Ruiz lives and works in Switzerland.

She began painting at the age of nine, exploring watercolor and attending arts and crafts courses alongside her formal education. Driven by curiosity and a desire to discover the world, she left her homeland to study art and graphic design in the United States.

 

Her deep connection to nature is rooted in her indigenous heritage. After completing a Master’s degree in Art Direction in Barcelona, Ruïz spent several years traveling through Asia and Latin America, dedicating herself to diving and immersing in marine environments—experiences that became central to her artistic language.

 

Her current work focuses on the beauty and importance of coral reefs for the planet. Through a self-developed technique combining fine sand, acrylic modeling paste, cotton, and other materials, she creates intricate, colorful, three-dimensional artworks inspired by organic marine structures.

 

Through her practice, Ruïz seeks not only to reflect the beauty of nature, but also to raise awareness of its fragility. Part of the proceeds from her artworks supports organizations and NGOs dedicated to the conservation and restoration of coral reefs.
